GBU is established through the Gujarat Act 16 of 2018, Department of Science & Technology, Government of Gujarat.

  1. Dr. Tarun Sharma received a grant to study Identification of antiviral agents against Henipaviruses like Nipah and Hendra from Nova Nordisk Foundation and Open Philanthropy, (2023-2025) ₹ 89.69 lakhs (Role-PI).
  2. Dr. Tarun Sharma received a grant for the Development of a metabolite-based point-of-care test for diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis in Indian women from ICMR (2023 to 2026) ₹ 60.00 lakhs (Role-PI).
  3. Dr. Tarun Sharma received a grant for the Development of a point-of-care (POC) biosensor for the detection of organophosphate and carbamate pesticides in environmental samples, from GSBTM, DST, Govt. of Gujarat (2023 to 2026) ₹ 55.60 lakhs (Role-PI).
  4. Dr. Rohini Nair received RLS fellowship and award from DBT Govt. India 2022.
  5. Dr. Ankit Rai received RLS fellowship and award from DBT Govt. India 2021.
  6. Dr. Ravindra Pal Singh is funded by DBT- India Exploring prophylatic activities of diverse structural pectin oligosaccharides: a step towards nutrigenomics. (12/2021 – Present) Approved grant: ₹ 32,00,240. (Role-PI).
  7. Dr. Ravindra Pal Singh received a grant to study Novel enzymatic strategy for synthesizing human milk oligosaccharides for promoting health of infants. (12/2020 – Present) Funded by DBT- India. Approved grant: ₹ 43,50,000. (Role-PI).
  8. Dr. Ravindra Pal Singh received a grant to explore Prophylactic health products from macroalgae and their digestion by human gut microbial communities. (06/2019 – Present) Funded by DBT- India. Approved grant: ₹ 114,10,000. (Role-PI).
  9. Dr. Sandeep Panda and Dr. Chirayu Desai received a grant from SURE The Science & Engineering Research Board of India (SERB), Govt. of India to investigate Closed Loop Bio-recycling of Spent Petrochemical Refinery Catalysts for Metal Recovery and Polyaromatic Hydrocarbon Degradation, (2023-2026). ₹ 30,00,000 (Role PI). 
  10. Dr. Sandeep Panda, Dr. Balaram Mohapatra and Dr. Imran Pancha received a grant Integrated Treatment of Lignite and Acid Mine Drainage for Remediation of Pollutants and Generation of Clean Coal, Bio-Methane and Bio-Composites: A Circular Bio-Economy Approach, from GSBTM, DST, Govt. of Gujarat (2023 to 2026).
  11. Dr.Sudheer Pamidimarri, Dr. Imran Pancha, Dr. Sandeep and Dr. Sangram K. Lenka Panda got a grant to explore Wastewater to biofuel and bio-products: Cyanobacterial biorefinery through a green circular bioeconomy, from GSBTM,  DST, Govt. of Gujarat (2022 to 2025) ₹ 360.9 lakh. 
  12. Dr. Varun Shah received a grant to study Establishing environmental surveillance of emerging pathogens and pollutants from Gujarat using multi-omics approaches from GSBTM,  DST, Govt. of Gujarat (2023 to 2025) ₹ 2,50,00,970 (PI). 
  13. Dr. Varun Shah received grant to Engineering Hybrid Biological Systems for self-Sustainable treatment of persistent mobile chemicals in common effluent treatment plant (CETP) wastewater, from GSBTM, DST, Govt. of Gujarat (2023 to 2025) ₹ 1,08,01,616 (Co-PI). 
  14. Dr. Jaget Rathod, Dr. Imran Pancha and Dr. Balaram Mohapatra Low-Budget received a grant to explore Natural Farming (LBNF): Underpinning the Gujarat agro-climatic zones’ soil-specific natural farming practices for sustainable and climate resilient agriculture, from GSBTM, DST, Govt. of Gujarat (2023 to 2026).
  15. Dr. Balaram Mohapatra and Dr. Nisha Singh awarded a grant from SURE The Science & Engineering Research Board of India (SERB), Govt. of India to investigate Microbial clean-up of polyethylene (PE) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) waste using organic carbon proxy and surfactants: (Meta)genomic-metabolomic insights on waste landfills of Gujarat, (2023-2026). ₹ 30,00,000 (Role PI). 
  16. Dr. Nisha Singh awarded DST-INSPIRE Faculty received a grant to Identification of novel genes/ QTLs for seed quality and nutrition traits in pigeonpea using genome-wide association mapping from DST GoI (2020-2025). ₹ 35,00,000 (Role PI).
  17. Dr. Chirayu Desai received a grant to Engineering hybrid biological systems for self-sustainable treatment of persistent mobile chemicals in common effluent treatment plant (CETP) wastewater, from GSBTM, DST, Govt. of Gujarat (2023 to 2025) (Role Project Coordinator).
  18. Dr. Chirayu Desai received a grant to investigate wastewater to biofuel and bio-products: Cyanobacterial biorefinery through a green circular bioeconomy, from GSBTM, DST, Govt. of Gujarat (2022 to 2025) (Role PI).
